About Emily
We all have our own life stories, strengths, and obstacles. Life can be challenging, but within each of us lies a wellspring of strength, whether we can see it or not. My goal as a mental health counselor is to create a space where we can meet in a genuine and authentic way to identify and overcome the obstacles that are creating conflict and distress in your life.
I view therapy through a systemic lens, considering how your family, social circles, and societal influences have shaped you. By examining these angles, we gain a deeper understanding of what makes you, you.
I use a person-centered, strengths-based approach that incorporates DBT, CBT, ACT, humanistic, and existential theories to build resilience and help clients better understand their emotions. I continually work toward being an antiracist, LGBTQIA+ supporting, and multiculturally competent provider.
I specialize in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for clients with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). If you have a diagnosis or are wondering whether you might have PTSD, feel free to reach out for a consultation or intake session to discuss whether CPT might be the right therapy approach for you.
In my free time, I enjoy reading fantasy and non-fiction books, gardening, meditation, yoga, spirituality, creating art, playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends, and spending time in nature.
Note: Emily operates independently and is not employed by the Authentic Roots group.
