About Alyson
Hi, I’m Alyson!
"I am out with lanterns, looking for myself." – Emily Dickinson
We all lose things—keys, wallets, our favorite coffee mug, or a treasured piece of jewelry. These losses may sting, but we can move on. Losing parts of ourselves, however, is a different story. Trauma, anxiety, addiction, co-dependency, or parenthood can make it hard to recognize what’s missing. That’s where I come in, as your potential therapist.
I invite curiosity about the stories you carry. Most likely, they are heavy, and a part of you is ready to become unburdened or even free. Together, we can explore the layers of your life, examine relationships, and uncover patterns that no longer serve you. My goal is to help you build a roadmap back to yourself, cultivating a thriving life on your terms.
I work with individuals, couples, and families, in whatever configuration you bring. I am passionate about building bridges between partners, between parent and child, and between yourself and your life. In couples or parenthood, this often involves maintaining self-regulation while being available to co-regulate with others.
I am trained in systems and systems theory, allowing us to explore how society, culture, community, family, relationships, and personal connection shape you. My therapeutic presence is warm, humorous, intuitive, and keen. Through a strengths-based, client-centered approach, therapy with me is collaborative, occasionally challenging, and may include optional homework.
I bring my lived experience as a wife, mother, stepmother, sister, adult daughter, entrepreneur, and healer to my work. My experiences in recovery, the queer community, and local spiritual communities further enrich my therapeutic lens.
Note: Alyson operates independently and is not employed by the Authentic Roots group.
